How to Create Your Own Affirmations for EFT Practice
Creating your own affirmations makes your EFT (Tapping) practice more powerful and personal. Here's a simple process to help you uncover affirmations that truly resonate with you:
1. Identify the Core Issue
Start by asking yourself:
What emotion or belief is bothering me right now?
Examples: fear of failure, feeling not good enough, anxiety about money, etc.
2. Notice the Negative Self-Talk
Tune in to your inner dialogue around the issue.
Examples:
“I’m not capable.”
“I always mess things up.”
“No one listens to me.”
These are gold — they help you uncover what needs to shift.
3. Flip It Gently (but Believably)
Turn those limiting beliefs into affirmations, but make sure they still feel realistic. You don’t need to jump straight to “I’m amazing!” — just find a softer truth.
Examples:
“I’m open to the possibility that I can handle this.”
“Even though I feel overwhelmed, I choose to be kind to myself.”
“I’m learning to trust myself more each day.”
4. Use "Even Though" Statements
These are perfect for EFT and meet you where you are emotionally:
“Even though [negative belief], I deeply and completely accept myself.”
This helps integrate self-acceptance into your healing.
5. Test & Tweak
Say your affirmation out loud.
Does it feel soothing? True enough to believe?
If it feels too fake, soften it or tweak the wording until it lands for you.
6. Anchor in the Positive
After a few rounds of tapping, try reinforcing with positive affirmations:
“I am calm and grounded.”
“I choose peace.”
“It’s safe to move forward.”
